led2serve was created to equip, inspire and mobilize people to serve others locally and in areas around the world where true hope is least known.
Our aim is to provide life-changing service experiences for individuals, couples, families or groups that allow you to serve together and care for the practical needs of others. Regardless of your age or skills, you are invited to join any Journey.
We partner with communities to coordinate teams that will serve them on a variety of projects based on their needs.
Travel with us to exciting locations and choose how you want to serve. This could include construction for a local widow, teaching kids in a village school, helping to run a sports camp, cooking for your team and so much more.

led2play is an amazing Service Learning Journey that combines your servant heart with the inner child that we all have. From our younger days, we have wondered if play could be a vehicle that could make a lasting impact in the lives of other people. It can and it does! It is the purest form of serving. The smiles, the stories, the friendships, the meals afterwards; some of our most favorite moments come from being led2play with someone else. Give a little, play a little, play it forward...
World-renowned soccer player, Jackie Bachteler, will partner with Co-founder, Nancy Cummings, to create meaningful Service Journeys combining sport, play and service activies.
Jackie adds passion and purpose to her sport. She is a trainer, coach, mentor and friend to children and students across the globe. Bridging her playing style with her teaching technique, she has created the "soccer dance" and has elevated soccer to a brand new level. Having competed as a professional player in the U.S., Sweden, and Finland, Jackie has enriched the lives of countless people all around the world.
(as written in the Tico Times: March, 2013)
2013 marks the third year that the international volunteer group Led-2-Serve returned to Nuevo Arenal to participate in projects benefitting the community.
For most college students, spring break means traveling to places like Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Cancun, Mexico, for two weeks of partying and chilling out. The 26-member Led-2-Serve group included sixteen third-year students from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, who had more constructive ideas of what to do with their free time.
Dividing into work teams, the students and their Led-2-Serve mentors (coordinated by Vanessa Puleo) restored and repainted the metal roof of the high school, cleaned and painted chairs at the bullring salon, constructed a fenced play yard for pre-school children whose parents are working, and built a fence enclosure for the vegetable garden at the Asamiento school. Dr. Nancy Cummings, PhD, and pre-med intern Sonja Wagner conducted disscussions on nutrition at the school.

led2serve understands what it takes to create curriculum that allows colleges, professors, teachers, and most importantly students, to thrive in today's academic world while maintaining robust curriculum. Dr. Nancy H. Cummings, Co-founder of led2serve, states it best. "Today’s students want to learn, serve and help others. They are hungry to make a difference in the world. It is up to us, as educators, to meet their needs and design moments that intentionally bridge the gap between serving and learning. Service Learning produces well-rounded, caring, global citizens that will make a profound difference in their communities, their profession and around the world." She is in the midst of creating a new division of led2serve which will focus exclusively on customizing Service Learning Journeys for all academic environments. Whether you are interested in a Service Learning Journey for your students or simply have an interest in learning while you serve, led2serveU will create an amazing life-changing Journey that you can join. THESE are examples of future Service Learning Journeys.
Service Learning goes far beyond the classroom. For some, it goes far across the globe. As young adults dive into the great big world of promise, led2serve invites them to serve and learn together. Combining different areas of study, Dr. Nancy H. Cummings creates meaningful and rich curriculum experiences for students from various disciplines. This year, she returned to Germany for 3 weeks of culture, learning and service with our community partners. Nancy happens to be the co-founder of led2serve. This makes her a special fit for students who want to learn while they travel. She uses her knowledge and expertise in other countries in a positive way that supports and mentors all involved. This year, projects were continued with two after-school programs. These programs support children of all faiths and all backgrounds. Consider how you will engage your students, your family or friends on a Journey. Next year, Nancy will create a 30-day Service Journey into Germany that allows you to immerse in a different culture at the same time you are learning and serving others. Enjoy traveling... with an educational purpose!
